The paralyzed woman’s attorney explained she had buckled her seatbelt before the crash, but because of Honda’s defective seatbelt design, when the Uber van rolled over, the seatbelt did not hold her body in place. This allowed the shoulder belt to cause a cervical fracture leaving the young lady a quadriplegic.

The jury found Honda 63 percent at fault. The injured young lady’s attorneys also argued that Honda put 1.6 million defective seat belts into the market. Many are in third-row seats where children are often riding. The young lady is hoping Honda will recall these unsafe seatbelts.
